Teaching Short Vowels Using Syllable Division: Rabbit Words (VIDEO)
Watch on YouTube: Teaching Multisyllabic Words with Orton-Gillingham Using Syllable Division: Rabbit Words
What are VCCV Words?
VCCV is the Vowel-Consonant-Consonant-Vowel syllable division pattern taught in Orton Gillingham training. Within the VCCV pattern, there are four sub-patterns: RABBIT, REPTILE, CANDY, and HORNET words.
We teach RABBIT words first. RABBIT words, when divided, end up with two closed syllables.
